Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought the cooperation of the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into the recent nationwide violence. Formation of a Judicial Probe Commission

Before calling for international cooperation, the Prime Minister announced the formation of a one-member judicial probe commission led by a High Court judge. She also directed the expansion of the commission by including two more members to enhance the scope and effectiveness of the investigation.

"We have formed the commission with a judge (of the High Court). I have given the order to include two more as manpower and enhance the periphery of the investigation," she stated.

Appeal to the Nation

Prime Minister Hasina urged the citizens to assist in identifying those responsible for the violence. She called on the people to expose the conspirators aiming to destabilize the country and hinder its progress.

"You (countrymen) have to find out the people involved in the conspiracy to push the country backwards through fishing in troubled water by launching such an incident," she said, referring to the repeated attempts by collaborators of the Pakistani occupation forces to undermine Bangladesh.

National Fisheries Week-2024

The Prime Minister's remarks were part of her address at the launch of National Fisheries Week-2024. This week-long event, running until August 5, celebrates the significant achievements in Bangladesh's fisheries sector.

Recognizing Excellence in Fisheries

During the event, Prime Minister Hasina awarded the National Fisheries Medal to 22 individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to the sector. The recipients included farm owners, fisheries officers, a project director, a university teacher, an association leader, a project, and a committee. The awards comprised six gold medals, eight silver medals, and eight bronze medals, along with certificates of recognition.

The Prime Minister herself was honored with a gold medal for her significant contributions to the fisheries sector. She also distributed smart ID cards to two registered fishermen, symbolizing the government's ongoing efforts to modernize and support the industry.

A Vision for Progress

An audio-visual documentary showcasing the government's progress and successes in the fisheries sector was presented at the function. The National Fisheries Week aims to highlight the advancements made in the industry and inspire continued growth and innovation.
